Upgrade to Phone Tools 4.x from v3.x. . . BVRP Not Helpful

Posted: 04-10-2006, 02:03 AM
I am a registered user of Motorola Phone Tools from BVRP. Until this last
round of updates, I've never had a problem updating via Live Update. Now,
the update to V4.x doe not install. I contacted BVRP through their website
and filled out the questionnaire and specifically stated my operating system
as Windows 2000. After a few days, I get a reply informing me that Windows
98 is not supported and I'm basically out of luck. The message concludes
with some nebulous promise of assistance if I can furnish proof pf purchase.

Luckily I did a screen capture of my on-line purchase. I forwarded this back
to BVRP along with the original thread. I have not heard a word from BVRP
since then.

has anyone else running Windows 2000 has a problem upgrading to the v4.x
upgrade?

Is this normal support for BVRP?

What alternatives are there for getting resolution to this problem?

I purchased v3 without the cable from BVRP.
No live update.
When I asked them for the update I was told that because I didn't buy
a cable from them I was not eligible for the update.
Such a deal.

Well, I'm happy to say my saga does have a god ending. I finally heard from
BVRP. The tech sent me driections to an FTP site where I was able to
download a copy of version 4.04b, the latest from BVRP. The installation
took a lot longer than I expected, but I now have the latest version of
Motorola Phone Tools from BVRP.

I had problems for a long long time with my legal copy. Support at
BVRP was absolutely non-existent. I believe the company is a phone
booth near the Wal-Mart down the road.

I posted on their forum, no reply. Emailed them. No reply. Called them
and they hung up on me.

The software is working now (knock on something) but every time I
start it, I have to re-detect my phone. At least it finds it now.
Still won't sync with Outlook though. Only with the native database.

I'd pay big bucks for some software that actually works, connects and
syncs with my PC without swearing at it.
