Motorola Warranty - Supposed Liquid Ingress
Posted: 03-02-2006, 01:56 PM
I purchased a Motorola V220 last April from the Orange Shop. I bega
having problems with it last September when the camera stopped working
I ignored this for a while and within weeks the colour screen bega
splitting into many different images and I was unable to see what I wa
doing, I took the phone back into the Orange Shop where they were ver
unhelpful and they gave me a phone number for Motorola Repair Centr
and I was told that I would have to arrange for it to be sent awa
myself. The phone was then sent away and repaired. Literally week
after the ear piece on the phone began playing up and I was unable t
hear the caller, I took the phone to a different Orange Shop and thi
time it was sent away to their repair centre, the phone was the
returned fixed. Then in January the phone began playing up again, thi
time it would not ring. I went back to the Orange Shop and this tim
when it was returned they told me that they would not repair it as th
phone had 'liquid ingress' and the warranty was now invalid. I spok
with the sales rep in the shop and told him that I could see no wa
possible that the phone would be damaged in this way, he was extremel
rude and unhelpful even after I explained all the other faults I ha
had with this phone and provided him with all the paperwork
Unsatisfied I then sent my phone to be asessed at the Motorola Repai
Centre, it has today been returned with a picture of white liquid o
the chip, no evidence that this is my phone or what the liquid is, i
is two very small specks. I still believe that there is no liquid in m
phone and that I own a faulty handset, the matter is not helped by th
fact that I was told if you have 3 or more faults with your handse
Motorola will replace it as policy, is it a mere concidence that
suddenly have 'liquid ingress' in my phone on my third fault? A cleve
way to get out of replacing my handset. I intend to take further actio
over this matter. Also noted that the BER Unit that both Orange an
Motorola use is the same place, so how independent was the qualit
analyst that examined my phone
