razr v3i "time autoupdate" seem edit - same as on the regular v3?

Posted: 02-27-2006, 03:47 PM
this is from the v3 seem table
(http://www.planetmotox.net/motox101/v3_seem_table.htm). anyone know
if this same seem edit will work on the v3i?

Time Autoupdate
Settings > Initial Setup > Time and Date > Autoupdate
0032_0001 > offset 00 > bit 0 - Activate Menu
0032_0001 > offset 55 > bit 2 - Activate Function

Yes, it works. Most if not all of the v3 SEEMs are the same for the v3i.

If you turn this on it may still not work as AutoUpdate is carrier dependant
and your operator may not support it.

our carrier does have the auto-update, and it works fine on my
v3...just wanted to be sure it was the seem edit on the v3i.

Autoupdate is a fine feature. But it can do spooky things.

While in Prague last month, my Cincinnati Bell V3 showed Cincinnati
time
in Autoupdate mode. If I manually set the V3 to Prague time, then
reactivated Autoupdate, the phone would set itself back to Cincinnati
time. My phone tuned itself into T-Mobile in Prague, but the
Autoupdate feature must be tied to the home office that has your
account.

That's odd, it always sets to local time when I travel both w/in the US
and abroad.

I tried the autoupdate mod on my new V3i and when I tried enabling
autoupdate from the menu it came back with an error "network service
unavailable" or something similar.

Autoupdate on my old V3 however works fine. Both phones are on the same
network.

There must be a subtle difference between the V3 and V3i.

Anyone any ideas what to try next as I'd really like to get the autoupdate
feature working.

I don't understand why my V3 had the autoupdate feature available in the
menu when I bought it new, and yet the newer V3i didn't.

It's exactly the same as for the v3. There are TWO SEEM edits in
0032_0001 required:

offset 00 - bit 0: Settings > Initial Setup > Time and Date > Autoupdate
Menu (1 on, 0 off)

AND

offset 55 - bit 2: Time Autoupdate (1 on, 0 off) <-- this will actually
activate the feature, the menu item is in offset 00

Both of these should be set to '1' or on. I use Motokit for my SEEM
edits as it's very easy and reliable.

For the most complete list of SEEM edits see the guide at
www.xlr8.us/hofo.

Bruce,

I can assure you that I have correctly made the seem edits that you
described. For some reason it does NOT appear to work on the V3i with my
service provider (Orange).

If it's working with the same SIM on the old v3 then all I can suggest
is that you:
1/ Make sure both SEEM edits loaded to the phone properly. I use
Motokit to read what I have.
2/ Be sure to restart the phone after editing - I like to remove the
battery for 10 seconds to be sure.
3/ Switch back to Manual in the setup menu, adjust the 12/24 format,
and then switch back to Autoupdate. I had to do that with a v3 once.

I'm not familiar with the Orange network but the TMo network in the US
will autoupdate within seconds. FWIW, my v3i is a Hong Kong version.

If none of this works, perhaps you should update your firmware. I'm
running this one:
R479_G_08.B4.38R which is available from http://www.planetmotox.net/
