Question for BruceR

Posted: 02-20-2006, 04:44 AM
Hey Bruce. You seem to be one of the leading Guru's on the RAZR so I will
ask you and anyone else out there as well. I have flexed, flashed, and
Monster Packed both of my phones. But the only problem I have had so far and
I cannot find a solution to it yet, is where can I edit the seems or the
flash/flex to make all of the language in the menus in American English, and
not the Queen's English. For example, in my menus I have the option to
"Custimise", not "Customize" or "Personalise" not "Personalize."

Any ideas on how to fix this little quark on the RAZR phones?

Thanks.

Funny you should mention that today. I just finished converting my Hong
Kong sourced v3i from the Queen's English to American - along with the
voice dial feature - last night. The v3i has speaker independent voice
dialing but it would only work if I faked a British accent! Now it's
all good with the American version installed.
For the v3, all you need to do is visit http://www.planetmotox.net/ and
click on MXLP, download the file at the top of list and flash your phone
with it. Dialling will lose the extra 'l' and you'll lose the 'u' in
favoUrites and coloUrs. You'll need to trade in some of your 's' for
'z' too.

Remember - when it comes to modding a razr, your first stop is
PlanetMotox! The man is a razr GENIUS!

you need a flash with lp 0003

www.motox.us has some lp that you can flash on the phone.

The 0003 LP you refer to is a multilanguage pack that included US Eng,
CDN French, American Spanish and Brazilian Portugese. The MXLP that I
referred the OP to contains US English and nothing else. Both will work.

Language Pack 39 is normally used for UK English.

I purchased my V3i from romeohifi.com and it seems to have the British
language pack. I just happened across your post, but I think it will
help me too.

The hardest part of the speaker independant voice dialing is to select
between "Home" and "Mobile." I can get the V3i to recognize the "Name
Dial" command and the person's name, but it takes me about 10 tries to
get it to understand "Home." Hard to figure. Maybe the language pack
will help.

I originally had no plans to mod my phone, but it looks like I might get
dragged into the phone modding world after all...

The usual problem is that the sound is too short for good results in the
matching algorithm. Try something longer (and more distinct), like "land
line" and "mobile phone".

I found that using different names for home and cell is easier. For
example, to call my wife at home I say "Wife" and to call her cell I say
her name.

I am trying to use the Voice Dial System without entering separate voice
"Tags" for each name. I used to enter voice "Tags" on my Motorola phone,
but this way seems slicker to me.

I thought setting a Primary Number would make that the number dialed when I
spoke the person's name. However, if that person has both a "Home" and
"Mobile" number listed, the phone askes me to differentiate between them.
I've tried to mimic the accent of the phone lady with the Brittish accent
saying "Home" but I can't seem get it.

I think I'm going to flash the 0001 MXLP file you mentioned above to get
the American accent and spelling.

I can't find the Motorola PST MultiFlashFlex program, but do have a copy of
RSD Lite v2.5. Should I keep looking for a copy of Motorola PST
MultiFlashFlex, or will RSD Lite v2.5 be acceptable?

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.

RSD Lite is the better choice. PST won't work with the v3i. Once you
flash the lang pack you'll also need to replace the VST files.
P2kCommander is a good program for that. The new VST files are here:
