Is there a way to re-lock a phone.

Posted: 02-18-2006, 02:53 PM
I picked up a Motorola MPX200 for a good price and it was unlocked. I
currently use Cingular as I get a great discount thru my work. The Phone
was originally used on ATT but was unlocked and when I switched it over to
my service it was ok but I started noticing that I would drop a call just by
moving and friend started saying they had tried to call me and would get
messages saying that there is no service at this number. Any help would be
greatly appreciated

If it were locked you would see a "Subsidy Code" message when you turned
it on. Have you contacted Cingular about the problem?

They said it was because the phone is unlocked.
It hops from signal to signal where as if it were locked it would stay on
cingular or their other allowed carrier if roaming.

That's quite a knowledgeable replay there bamp. I think you should expand
upon it to help the OP out.

The phone being locked or unlocked has nothing to do with the signal
"hopping" from one carrier to another. Carrier selection is SIM
dependent.

your problem is the MPX200 is only a dual band phone.. 1800/1900

cingular uses 850/1900 so since your phone is only 1800/1900 your not going
to get the best reception.

when your phone is low on signal calls will get dropped and go straight to
vm.

it has nothing to do with being locked or unlocked.
