when will the ultimate phones come out?
Posts: n/a can see video as well as talking to the person. Remember the cartoon "The Jetsons"? That type of phone is the one many people are looking forward to. Are the Japanese working on it? I would assume they would create such a technological wonder before anyone.  Responses to "when will the ultimate phones come out?"

Sounds like most 3G phones - UMTS two way video calls have been out for sometime now in Europe, but we don't get Jetsons cartoons. Works OK if you both have coverage. Al

Posts: n/a Re: when will the ultimate phones come out? When i mentioned "The Jetsons" tv show, i was talking about the videophones they showed all the time. This was back in the what, 1960's or 70's. Damn near 50 years ago. I hope we get the technology here in the states soon! As I understood it there were 3G networks in the U.S., is that correct If so then are the networks offering handsets with video callin capability? Video calling is only really just starting to catch on here; up unti now there really haven't been enough people with 3G handsets to make i a regularly used feature. Usually one would either know one or othe person with a 3G handset or perhaps even no one at all. The price i also still relatively high. Hence a combination of those factors mean it wasn't really being used by most people. It still isn't really, bu I think it is slowly starting to be used more. Video calling was put forward as the killer 3G application, but would say that fast music downloads are proving more popular. I coul be wrong there of course. Personally I find it to be a rather nice feature. I video called m father in Australia a couple of years ago and it was rather nice to b able to see him as well as speak to him whilst he was over there -- scotsboyuk
