backlit keypad v545

Hi,

I've just bought a motorola v545 and the backlighting on the keypad is
bright blue and very bright and really hurts my eyes. The backlighting
goes off in bright light but most of the time when I use the phone the
lighting is not strong enough to turn the keypad backlighting off. Is
there any way that I can turn the backlighting off permenantly? I will
not be able to use the phone if I can't. If there is any way to open
the phone and rip the LED out then I'd be interested to know about it.
