v635 Date & Time question

Posted: 01-21-2006, 06:52 PM
I hate to ask such a newbie question, but I just got an
unlocked/unbranded v635 (made in Germany I think) for use on T-Mobile
USA. I like it so far, except I have two minor issues that I hope
somebody can give me an answer as to how to fix them:

1) This phone does not automatically set the date and time. The manual
mentions an Autoupdate feature which is not present on my phone. I was
using a v360 that had this feature, so it's a little annoying not to
have it enabled on this phone. Is there a way to enable it, or is this
a software problem?

2) The datebook application displays months with weeks starting on
Monday and ending on Sunday. Since I am an American, I am used to weeks
starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday. Is there a way to change
this, or is this a software problem?

If the above are software problems, how would I go about uploading new
software, and what software is it that needs to be updated? Thanks for
any information.

Go to

Menu/Settings/Initial Setup/Time and Date

Entering the Time and Date Menu, you should see
-The time
-The date
-Autoupdate in that order

If Autoupdate isn't there, then the feature isn't turned on.
But you should enter the time menu or date menu and set the format the way
you like it.

Also, not all operators have time autoupdate in the network. Tmobile did not
support that feature in the US about a year ago but I'm not sure about
today. If it's from Tmo Germany and they didn't support it, they would have
left it off the menus.

If you want to mess with programming software, Google a few times and good
luck. Sometimes people do ruin a phone in the process so be sure you want it
bad enough to assume the risk. Particularly if phone isn't under a warranty.
