v60i Voice Message Notification Question

I can not figure out how to get my voice message notification work on my
v60i phone. It looks like by the user's guide I have everything setup
right. So I emailel the company I get my service from told them what my
problem was and they worked with it a while and told me to try it and the
notification worked for text messaging instead of voice messaging. He told
me that he has a v550 and that it sends a text message to let he know that
you have a voice message.

My question is why do you even have a voice notification listed in the
message center if it can't be setup to use it that way? If anyone knows how
to setup your voice notifiaction or any ideas as to what I might try to get
this to work right, please let me know

I guess you are in the USof A. I am in the UK. When I first got my v60i I
was with 02 and voice mail messages came up as text message alerts. When I
changed to Virgin voice mail alerts came up as such rather than as text
messages - so I guess it is down to your cell phone provider rather than any
settings in your phone.

Here in the USA (United States of China soon) on the
AT&T pre-Cingular setup, they USED TO have a
prompt for someone leaving a msg, it could be voice,
numerical (which sent a SMS with the number the
caller would enter), and even fax.
To print you would have to manually forward it from
your mailbox to a fax number, did that once, it didn't
work. I think it complained that that was long distance,
even though LD in the 48 states is free.
Talking caller id on voice messages is also gone.

So, in reply to the OP, yes, it appears to depend
on the provider how things are set up.
