Mobile Phone Tools 3.28 from BVRP.

USB? Bluetooth?

I use a Motorola v551 with bluetooth and a DLink DBT-120 bluetooth-usb on
my WinXP PC, with MPT 3.28.

What version? "Lite", from Europe, or full from USA?

WinXP? Did you connect the phone and let WinXP install bad drivers before
you loaded Mobile Phone Tools and their drivers?

On the FAQ page for BVRP
http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3966
The driver installation tool listed in 4) will install the usbser.sys
driver file from Windows 2000 (which does not exhibit the incompatibility)
for use with Motorola phones on Windows XP.

http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=234 is another helpful
thread. This one comes in handy if you plug your phone into different USB
ports on the PC... You should stay with one port.

http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=2510 is a thread about USB
and the Razr. Same recurring theme, though. The drivers need to be loaded
"correctly", and some USB modem devices might need to be removed in device
manager.

Try looking in control panal / system / hardware / device manager / wireless communication and check you have not got more than 1 of the same driver installed. If you have delete one.

I pulled the battery out of mine for 30 seconds and when I replaced it the initialisation worked...
