Motorola V3 what a miserable piece of junk

Posted: 12-16-2005, 10:34 AM
Bought one on PAYG from Orange and what a total piece of crap. The
connection software crashes my PC when it tries to sync with Outlook and the
phone refuses to work with any Bluetooth device I try to use to connect to
the Internet via GPRS despite the fact the same devices work well with my
old Sony Ericsson phone. It also fails ot pick up a signal in my house,
despite my old Sony phone working fine in the same area.

The phone is totally unusable with these defects and is little more than a
paper weight

Anyone got any suggestions as to the best way to destroy a £130 piece of
crap?

Martin

Get better computer hardware and/or software. The V3 works great.

No the phone doesn't work great. It's crap.

I'll be happy to make it so that you never have to look at it again.

Not sure what problem you are having, though it might be a software\Driver
issue. Since my girlfriend, lives off Text messaging, I plug my V3 into 3
different PCs constantly and never had a BSOD. (currently using MPT 3.28)

I also use the software to upload\download Pics, MP3\ringtones etc. I don't
use the Sync with outlook feature that much, and I don't use the GPRS at
all.

I don't have signal issues where I live, and where I do have signal issues,
some does everyone elses phone.

Maybe you just got a bum phone. Seeing that the V3 has won just about all
the different phone awards and Editor's picks. I don't think it can be that
bad.

Then again you crazy Brits probably add stuff to your phone that ruins it.

Well I've tried the phone on 2 laptops and two PDA's and can't get a GPRS
connection, there's nothing wrong with the Sim card as it works in two other
phones. The phone starts to connect then just drops the connection. Having
had a read on the net, there seems to be many complains about Bluetooth on
this phone and GPRS. I had a similar problem with the last clamshell phone I
owned (an awful Panasonic GD-87). Should have learnt lesson then I guess. Oh
well, looks like my air rifle will have some good target practice this
weekend :-)

First step is to verify that the phone can get GPRS connections all by itself.
If it can't, then it probably needs to be configured. If it can, then you
probably have either a tether issue of a laptop/PDA issue.

The phone also needs to be configured.

Typical symptom of a phone that hasn't been configured properly.

In fact the Bluetooth in the phone works fine, as a great many users know from
experience. The usual problem is at the other end, either hardware or the
Bluetooth drivers.

There is of course no relationship between them. If there is a lesson to be
learned, it's probably that you have hardware and/or software problems
unrelated to the phone.

I'm beginning to see why you have a problem.

THE PHONE IS CONFIGURED. If you can't offer any help, then say nothing.

Maybe that is where he got it in the first place and why it was offered for
sale
If was bought local, I would take it back and demand an exchange.
