v3 Phone Book

Posted: 12-16-2005, 06:05 AM
I have a Motorola v3. One of the things that maybe you can help me
with is why is it that the motorola's phone book is not like the
Nokia's. The Nokias phone book is sectioned off into sub categories
such as Friends, Work, Family, Business, Emergency, Medical and
others. I have heard of bios flashes. Can any one tell me how to
configure my Motorola v3 phone book in such a manner?

You can add multi-character search by flexing with a Motox flex
(www.motox.us) but you can already do the other things you mentioned by
opening the phonebook, pressing menu and selecting catagories. It's all
explained on page 75 & 76 of your manual. If your manual has been
misplaced you can d/l a copy from the Motorola site.

can you add more than one number per name entry? It seems that it will only
take one number ?

Yes, it's described on page 76 of the manual.

You can set your phone to only show one listing for each caller in the
phone phonebook. phonebook-menu-setup-view primary contacts.
When you highlight a name, use right/left arrow, it changes the icon,
indicating the work/mobile/home, and leaves that one as the one that shows
as the primary number. If you "select" or "view, then you can scroll up
and down through the multiple entries for that name, showing the number and
the text description of that entry. From there, menu allows you to set one
as the primary.

Seems strange that no one has pointed out the obvious!

If your phone book is on the SIM card, then you will only be able to have
one number per entry. However if your contacts are on the phone, then you
will be able to add multiple numbers per contact.
