Motorola V262 Ticking problem

Posted: 12-16-2005, 02:01 AM
I bought a Motorola v262 cell phone from a Telus dealer here in Canada.
I noticed right off the bat when I am on a call there is a constant
ticking noise. You can hear it when it is dead silence. The person
who answers the phone also can hear it. Its very annoying but its
faint ticking noise and can't be noticed in a loud public area. I sent
my phone for repairs and they upgraded the software but the noise is
still there. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Is this an inherit
defect in the product? Anyone with the same issue?

I've noticed that characteristic on my wife's V262 and my father says
he sometimes hears the tick when I call him on mine. With my wife's
phone, I notice it when she is using the speaker phone. I thought the
tick might be related to that, but when I was talking to my father, I
was using the earpiece.

I don't notice it very often - just now and then. Maybe something on
the network makes it more noticeable occassionally.

I had a very similar problem with an old V300 and discovered that it was
generated by a heart rate monitor I was using during exercise. You may not
be using an HR monitor, but could there be something near your phone sending
out a similar signal? Just an idea - - -

I noticed it when I first got my new phone too, but the caller on the
other end didn't notice it. Try turning off the in-call timer. That
worked for me. No more ticking.
