unlocking the v260 help

im trying to load some ringtones to the phone. Verizon provider. Using
mot phone tools the latest ver. I cant seem to load ringtones and when i
try on the menu it is grayed out. was told phone needs to be unlocked?
Im just trying as i said to load the ringtones if there is a easy way to
do this can someone help.
