Mobile Phonetools - never works?

Posted: 12-12-2005, 10:30 PM
Has anybody ever managed to get Mobile Phonetools to work? I've had an
A835 in the past, and have a V3 RAZR now and it won't work. I've tried
three computers and it never detects the phone and sits on
'initializing'... I'm using USB.

Is there any alternative software I can use? I just want to transfer
some pics and stuff.

Cheers,

Chris

Have you done a LiveUpdate?
I am running V 3.28 with a Motorola v551 via bluetooth.

Maybe the driver update (actually downgrade) is needed if you are on WinXP.

On the FAQ page for BVRP
http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3966
The driver installation tool listed in 4) will install the usbser.sys
driver file from Windows 2000 (which does not exhibit the incompatibility)
for use with Motorola phones on Windows XP.

http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=234 is another helpful
thread. This one comes in handy if you plug your phone into different USB
ports on the PC... You should stay with one port.

http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=2510 is a thread about USB
and the Razr. Same recurring theme, though. The drivers need to be loaded
"correctly", and some USB modem devices might need to be removed in device
manager.

If you ever plugged the phone in before installing the software it won't
work. You need to delete the phone and USB modem through device manager,
install the s/w and then plug in the phone.
There are other programs - more expensive and not as tightly integrated.

Just finished installing v3.11 and updating to 3.28. Works fine. Unplug
the usb cable from the computer and reconnect, it should detect the
phone and finish setup.
