Since you don't tell us what you are doing we don't know what you're doing
wrong. Since you can't get either one to work, I'd have to guess that
you're not following the instructions properly. You have to power BT on then
find devices while the headset is on. You need to follow the headset
instructions which we can't help you with because you don't mention what
brand/model you have.
Best advice: Reread both the phone and headset manuals.
