i560 Light Sensor

Posted: 10-01-2005, 08:15 PM
I recently purchased two i560s from Nextel's online store. I am one who
actually reads the manual and searches all known resources and tweeks
around with the phone a while before asking usenet for advice. The
manual and motorola's web site say that the light sensor on the phone
adjusts the back light on the display for lighting conditions. However
I have never observed this function in action. I have checked the
setting and used a flash light in a dark room to change the light on the
sensor with no observed change in display brightness. I have even tried
a battery out power down of the phone. No luck. And it is the same on
both phones. Two for two. So I am wondering whats up. Defective
software perhaps? Anyone else hear of or observe a simular thing on
their i560. Does anyone's i560 have a working light sensor? Thanks.
