You could probably just add the English language pack but I'd probably
just do a whole new Flex and reflash (or one of Motox's "flexlashes") to
make the whole thing more user friendly. See www.motox.us

english is already one of the language choices but doesn't work for the
phonebook

you say flex and reflash
before i study motox.us, is reflash the s/w or are you saying flash the flex
file

sorry to be obtuse but i haven't played with phone software before

There's both a Flex file and a Flash file for which you'll need the
Motorola Multi Flash Flex Tool which is part of the PST program. Read
everything on the Motx site and the Noob guides at www.motomodders.net
and you should be fine. There's bound to be some details you'd like
clarified so ask away once you've spent some time at Motox.

You've got it right. If you do the Monster Pack it includes the flash.
Also download the Keypad_Fix_Flex file as you may need that too. I've
modded 4 phones and all but one needed that. The problem is that after
upgrading, the keypad won't work except for the power button. Obviously,
this is more than a minor inconvenience but it's easily fixed by running
the fix flex which takes less than 10 seconds. Once installed you'll
never need to do it again (at least I haven't).
In the future, you'll want to reflash as new versions are released. The
advantage to just the reflash is that you won't have to backup and
reinstall all your games, photos and phonebook as you do when you flex.
