Mobile PhoneTools

OK, I'm at my wit's end. Every time I try to connect my phone, this
piece of... ok. calm down.

Windows wizard tries to install my phone. I let it find the drivers,
point to the drivers, do a Have Disk... everything's the same:

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The installation failed because a function driver was not specified
for this device instance.

I've deleted everything I can find. BVRP sent me a list of over 100
dlls that MPT used. I've deleted all I can. Uninstalled, reinstalled,
rebooted too many times.

Now, trying to install phone alone (like for P2KMan) produces either
this error or a message that Windows found a better driver, OEM19. It
won't let me select any other driver, then I get the "error occurred"
message.

I ran a utility that BVRP has to remove all .inf files. It did
nothing.

What the hell do I need to do to get my phone connected? I'm getting
really pissed here.

V551, USB cable, W2K SP4,

Thanks,
John

I think the DriverTool is pretty simplistic, and assumes that you are in
the Windows directory when you launch it.
It created files in my login directory that I think should have been in the
c:\windows directory.
