Motorola T720 (GSM) on Cingular

Recently I have been in the market for a simple, non-camera folding cell
phone as a replacement for my old Motorola V60. I am with Cingular and will
be switching to GSM (my V60 was TDMA). Cameras, web browsing, text
messaging, etc. don't really interest me on a cell phone, I just want one
that makes good quality calls and has the basic bells and whistles that
someone my age can still deal with (phone book and the like, which all
phones have these days). I'm on a tight budget and don't want to commit to
another contract with Cingular just for a free phone - I've been with them
for a thousand years and enjoy the freedom of not having a contract.
I have the opportunity to purchase a brand-new, never used Motorola T720
still in the box for $60.00 (which is the going price, even on eBay if you
include shipping) but don't know much about this phone except what I have
managed to find on the internet. It seems most of the reviews have been for
the CDMA version of the T720 on the Verizon network, and most of those have
been pretty bad - about 80%.
Normally I wouldn't consider this phone at this point, but I have also
found a few reviews (VERY few) for this phone on the Cingular GSM network
and they appear pretty positive.
I would like any sincere opinions about this phone on the Cingular GSM
network from anyone who has a moment to spare and is willing to post a
reply. Any sage words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time - Jonathan
