Doesn't seem like the Multimedia program within MPT does much but
transfer it's own files into my v551. What goes it that? I have some
neat wav and mp3 files I'd like to turn into "rings" on my phone.
Recommendations?

With MPT you can import whatever MP3 files you have and edit it to the
precise snippet you want to use as a ringer. Once done it'll load it to
the phone and you're done. For wav to mp3 conversion there are bunch of
free programs.

I have the latest version of MPT3.25b and every time I try to "save
selection as" of my MP3 file. I get the message "Failed to create
file" . When I highlight a large selection of the song and click on
the "Remove Selection" icon. It won't do that either. I'm just
talking about MP3 forget about wav files.

I use audacity to do my mp3 editing, saving under a different filename than
the original. That allows me to use more than one part of a tune. MPT
will upload those just fine. And, btw, Audacity is free.

P.S. -- Do a Google search on this group for mp3,ringtone &/or audacity. I
forget the exact subject line for the thread, but it included a link to an
excellent tutorial on creating mp3 ringtones with audacity. It was a month
or two ago.
