Concerned about the potential links between cell phone use and brain
cancer, a Manhattan city councilwoman has compiled the rankings of the
400 most popular cell phones based on the level of radiation they
release into the head and body during use.
Researchers disagree about the relationship between cell phone use and
brain cancer, and many scientific studies find no evidence supporting
the link. Still, critics are concerned about radio waves from the
phones, and in 1996, the federal government established a limit for the
amount of radiation cell phones can emit.
One of the highest-emitting models is the popular Motorola V.120E -
which exposes users to 1.59 watts per kilogram out of the maximum
allowable 1.6 watts, according to Eva Moskowitz (D-Manhattan).
