Hacking a v3 and cingular?

Posted: 08-24-2005, 09:16 PM
New V3 owner, beginning tolearn the ins/outs of hacking it. Before I
begin on my quest, however, does hacking the phone become in any way
apparent to the service provider? And is there a way to reset to
default settings after all is said and done, or are there just some
hacks that permanently change the phone?

Thanks, TRE

Carrier will never know... or care. Backup before hacking and you can
restore... but you won't need to if you read, read, read the guides at
www.motomodders.net before starting. Study the noob guides and read and
ask questions. I waited about a month before taking the plunge and now
I'm confident in making changes. I've converted my v3 from Cingular to
TMo and added a bunch some cool new features. I only screwed up once but
recovered the phone in minutes.

Tech you void your warranty, but they never notice even if you can'
restore it. Just remember for some updates, like updating to boo
loader version 8.23 or higher, can't be reversed. Once you go up yo
can't go back.
