MPT questions

Posted: 08-05-2005, 12:39 PM
MPT is supposed to handle a variety of Motorola phones. Right now, I have a
V180 on the ATT part of Cingular. I'm upgrading to a pure Cingular V551.
Will MPT allow me to port my phone book, etc. from the V180 to the V551?
Or does it only work with one model at a time (either model specific or
only capable of handling one phone)?

And the MPT site seems to be offering MPT deluxe at $29.95. Is that a good
price for what seem to be few differences over the MPT lite?

bill, my version of the Quicklink Mobile Phonebook allows importing
and exporting to/from a CSV (comma separated) file. seems like, worst
case, you ought to be able to read your current address book, export
it to a CSV file and then import it into a new file your new phone can
read.

Yes, it will allow you to move from one to the other. When I went from a
v600 to a v3 I just synched with the new phone and all was transfered.
You can get a full version of the software fairly cheap on ebay. Any version
from 2.11 on will update to the latest automatically if you're connected to
the web.

I just used MPT to transfer my phone book from one Moto to another. If
your entries are on the SIM you don't need to do anything. If saved to
the phone (preferable) there is a routine to move from the old phone
to the computer and then to the new phone.
