P2Kman crashes

Posted: 07-16-2005, 04:14 PM
Hello,

This might be off topic. I need to increase the volume gain in my v551.
I have been referred to P2Kman and then to edit the gain table.

I have downloaded and extracted p2kman.zip. I have MPT working properly
first as instructed.

When I run p2kman it crashes with one of those "sorry ... encountered a
problem and must close" microsoft dialog boxes.

I have seen mention of PST. I have searched for that and step by step
instructions for p2k, but cannot locate any.

Does someone have some tips or a link to play by play instructions for
getting this to work?

Thanks,
Barry.

Dont know if this will work for you, I have a V3, but it worked for me.

Very simple after I did a lot of fruitless reading in the maze of "you
to can make your phone....."

Download a copy of P2KTools.
Once you get that installed and running, hook up your phone.
Use the driver already on the system, or add the one in the P2Ktools
driver folder.

Tell it to connect to your phone via AT method, you will just have to
point it to what ever com port your phone is using. The bottom light
will go green from red.

Then have it connect via P2K
The red light will go green again, and your phone will blink on.

You go to tools and select Gain Table.
Select Get
then make your changes with the pointers, and select SET.
Then select restart.
You are done.

If you go too high, yeah, you blow the phone speaker out.
Start at half or less and check first.

The rest of the software didnt work for me.

Hope this helps

Barry: Robert is right about using P2KTools, it's a great program and
you won't break your phone. Motokit is another good one. Roberts method
of getting it to connect didn't work for me so here's another, slightly
more complicated way if you need it: Download and install a patched
version of PST (or install patches after d/l) and start it up. It will
load a bunch of drivers. Now run PST and let it find your phone. Close
PST and run P2KTools or Motokit and make your changes. I don't know
why, but each time I want to connect I have to run PST first. Hopefully
Robert's method will do the job for you.

MOtokit for Triplets phones (v300,v400,v500,v600)

P2k Tools for v551 and v3

Don't get me wrong they all work. It just seems to work better this way.
Also Midway is not necessary if you use P2ktools to upload games.
