using motorola bought in uk (vodafone) - diff network in greece, cannot use Greek sim card - help please

My Greek sim card says "contact service provider". Vodafone UK and Greece
said "Motorola will help". Couldn't. It seems Vodafone UK will not allow
diff network to be used on "their" phone! I have now cancelled Vodafone's
contract and hope that if I ring them in a few weeks, vodafone Greece lady
is correct when she says they have to give me the unlock code. In the
meantime as I don't think this will necessarily be the case as Vf won't nec.
play by the rules, can anybody help please?
Josie
