I did, and they were.
I got rid of the icon by using.'Cleanup all messages'.....although there
were none.it cleared the icon.

This may be a message waiting to be downloaded like a pic, vid or musi
clip there maybe a clock next to a message that will not be able t
delete it until it's read or downloade

OTOH, the indicator may have just been "stuck" due to a network glitch.
This is mentioned in the dictionary under Excrement Occurs.

classified as messages.

Yes, only mine shows that I have a voice mail message and when I check
my voice mail, voice says 'no messages'
