Okay... I was wrong! My wife had the package from the vendor since
yesterday. Now I have two cables and the software but the phone does not
seem to be recognized by the software... Any tips for this newbie from the
experts? Pleazzzzeeee?

I basically want to be able to DL and UL images and sounds for the phone
from my PC.

You have to go into device manager and delete the phone from Modems,
Ports and maybe USB devices. Then reboot, run MPT and only then plug the
phone in to the PC. While the PC is rebooting take the battery out of
your phone for 30 seconds for good measure - it can make a difference.

Okay. Deleted it...

All I get is "Please Wait. Your phone is being installed and set up."

Then after about 2 minutes, I get an image of the phone that says:

Phone Image
Not Available
Initializing...

That stays there forever...

Additional tips?

Have you run "live update" from within MPT? You'll want to update to the
latest version. Try that and also try starting the software first, and
then while it's trying to find the phone plug the cable into the phone
(phone must be on and unlocked (meaning security lock, not subsidy
lock).

Update - Check...

Software first - Check...

Security lock - Not sure what you mean by that... Do you mean the optional
password when you try to use the physical phone? If so, none implemeted on
mine.

Yes, that's the lock I meant. You _should_ be good to go and I'm out of
ideas.
