V60i headset problems

Posted: 04-22-2005, 12:39 AM
ATT/Cingular is no longer supporting TDMA phones. I have a year left in my
contract, I'm happy with the service, but I need a new phone, problems with
the headset on my Nokia 6360. I picked up a Moto V60i from Ebay.

Phone works fine with ATT/Cingular, had no problems getting it added to my
account, looks good, well taken care of, but the headset doesn't work. The
phone came with 2 headsets, a Moto branded and a cheapie and the sounds
through them are barely audible, with a lot of scratchy feedback as if there
was s short in the connection. The on/off button on the no-name earbud
doesn't work, and I can still hear sounds coming out of the phones earpiece
when using either earbud.

SO far I've tried 2 Plantronics headsets, one new Moto branded set, one
Ear-Glove that boasted superior sounds, and a cheapie earbud from K-Mart.
None of them worked. 1 of the Plantronics and the cheapie from K-Mart were
barely audible, the Ear-Glove and the new Moto Branded didn't work at all.

My question is, were these phone prone to this type of trouble? I've
contacted the seller from Ebay and he says his wife used the phone, but has
to get back to me on whether she had problems with the earbud, or ever even
used one.

Any advice would be appreciated: Can it be fixed? Headset recomendations,
etc.

Thanks in advance.

I've never had any problems with mine over the last 2+ years

PS Maybe it is just a bad connection in the phone... just a guess

Well, the phone seems to have been well take care of, the seller just
replied to me and advised that his wife didn't "recall" having any problems
with the volume in the headset, but that she didn't use the earbud very
often.

I was just wondering if this was a common problem with this model and/or if
it's maybe the type of headset I'm using. I've tried 7 so far and the best
I can get is barely audible sound on the best of them, and the others didn't
even work.

Thanks for your reply...

Same here - no problems. - Although do sometimes have to turn the volume up
when using the headset.

Have you been using the "volume keys" to try and increase the volume?
You can only do this when you are actually on a call otherwise you are
just increasing the "ring" volume. It does make a significant difference.

Do you have the manual for the phone? If not I can send you a .pdf file
of the manual from TMobile...let me know

I've tried that time and time again. As far as I know, I can only get it to
7. Does it go higher than that? I just tried it, calling my voicemail
number and even at 7 it's barely audible. Funny thing, the *tones* are a
lot louder than the actual call itself. When it's dailing the number, it's
at a good volume, but once the call starts, it drops. Strange.

Thanks for the offer, the phone came with a manual, car charger, wall
charger, and the 2 (useless for me) earbuds. It was a good deal, but if the
headset doesn't work, it's pretty useless for the way I use my phone.

Thanks again.

What type of headset are you using? That might be my problem.

Thanks

Could be dirt in the headset connection?
