Unlocking Motorola V180

my Motorola V180 GSM to my cpu so I could put in new ringtones and
other things. Have the newest version of MPT and all the drivers. Have
tried it with 2 diffrent OS-XP and 98SE. Start MPT and go through
setup-when it tells me to hook phone to CPU the new hardware wizard
pops up but theres always some problem. So what Im trying to get too
is it because the phone is locked. Does the phone have to be unlocked
before you can use it with MPT and your cpu.
