Motorola V265 Ringer

Not being a "geek", this is your best option to try first. If you can't
find what you want, you can record your own or use any mp3 file and upload
it to your phone but it involves a special cable and software installation.

Go to www.howardforums.com and do a search on V265 ringtones.

Basically, you can record it as an MP3 and send it to your phone, but
you need a special format (I have used 8000Hz, 16-bit, Stereo and 8000
Hz, 16-bit, mono). Now, here is the trick. You MUST rename the MP3
file extension to MID!! (I know, it is not a MIDI file but it works).
Then send it as an attachment to yournumber@vzwpix.com. The phone will
play the tone and allow you to save it as a file or a ringtone.

There are 2 caveats to this...
1. The ringtone will NOT repeat. You will have to have it repeat
itself within the MP3.
2. The volume on the V26x series phones, in my opinion, sucks. The
loudest setting I can barely hear if I have the phone in my coat
pocket.

I will disagree: the v265 plays mid, mp3, wav files just fine. It uses
gif or jpg wallpaper just fine. Texting the tones works find if the
attached file is not too big. I do not know the absolute limit, but
I've texted 96KB files, failed on 225KB files. I have mp3 at 48kbps
mono, 16 bit. The design of the v265 speaker is poor in the base and
good in treble and lower bit rates will provide poor sound especially
evident with wav and mp3.

Hey all, I have a v265 and am looking for some help getting mp3s t
work on my phone. I have MPT and can transfer files back and forth
however, when i try to play the mp3 file, it says that it is corrupt.
I tried what some other forums suggested, and changed the fil
extension to .mid before i sent it, and it still doesnt work. I
getting kind of irritated now. If anybody can suggest to me why m
mp3s wont work, it would be appreciated

took a cd, recorded the part of da song i wanted w/ Cool Edit 2000 (i
guess other programs like cubase and cakewalk would work as well, i'm
not familiar w/ those)...saved it as a mp3, using 16-bit, mono 24kbps
attributes. now here's where i think ppl are gettin mixed up. on my
computer (i have winxp) i have my file folders set up to SHOW THE FILE
EXTENSIONS. to change this, open up My Computer or Windows
Explorer...go to Tools-Folder Options. click the 'View' tab, and
UNcheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. now you'll see all
your files with the extension, i.e. 'My Resume.doc' or 'Michael
Jackson - Bad.mp3'. Right click on the mp3 you made and click
'rename'. now just change the .mp3 extension to .mid.

My additions

now, fire up Outlook Express (or whatever) and email the .mid file as
an attachment to "yournumber@vzwpix.com". It'll cost you 2 cents (or
maybe 10). When you get the message, scroll down until you find the
attachment. Make sure it still has the .mid extension. See if you can
play it. If you can, hit menu and save it. You should be able to use
it as a ringtone from your ring selections.

Doesn't anything which goes through vzwpix get treated as a "picture
message" (actually, an MMS [multimedia] message) and get charged $0.25,
unless you have a pix package of some kind? A bit more than $0.02, but
still a lot less than the GetItNow ringtones ($1.99).
