2.5mm headset jack repair or replacement

Posted: 03-25-2005, 01:02 AM
I've searched on this forum and elsewhere for a couple of weeks, and
have not found any useful information to date. I'm looking for a real
solution for a headset jack, since the mic function decided to stop
working on my phone. The phone recognizes when the headset is plugged
in and you can hear really well on it, but the caller cannot hear you
speak at all. Tried this with three different headsets, that all work
on other phones. Does anyone know where I would be able to get another
2.5mm jack that I could replace the one on the phone? Otherwise this
phone operates really well, so I don't want to give it up. It's a 720C,
CDMA. I haven't visited Radio Hack yet, but have searched on their
website which does not show that they carry these. I've also searched
online for both solutions as well as places that might sell the jacks,
but have come up empty.

I don't want to buy another phone (again).

TIA!

The jack probably needs to be resoldered. A radio repair shop might be
able to do it. If you can live without the phone for a few days, you
could ship it to a repair center and get it fixed. One such repair
center is ViaStar:

Good luck

Also all 2.5mm phone jacjs ain't the same. If you find one it probably won't
work on your phone, unless it's made for that model phone.

Thanks, I resoldered the jack to the board, but there's no change to
functionality. I'm sure I need a new jack. Checked Viastar's site,
but their prices for service are more than the phone is worth.
