Mobile Phone Tools (MPT) deletes parts of address from Outlook while syncing

Posted: 03-01-2005, 04:07 PM
MPT removes street address line from address field in outlook entries
which are being synced.
Does anybody else have this kind of problem? Do you have any idea how
to fix this?

I have MPT ver. 3.19e dated 12/03/2004 and synchronizing Motorola A630
with Outlook 2003.
This software is an exceptional piece of crap. I had plenty of other
problems with it and I see that I am not alone but it looks that this
is the only sync software available for my phone.

Thanks for help!

I would complain to Motorola at
https://motorola.custhelp.com/cgi-bi...nduser/ask.php

They promise to respond in 24Hrs. Let's keep them aware of the issues.

This certainly is a piece of crap. Every time I run the software, I
have to rediscover my phone, the update feature doesn't work, every
time I run it, I get different abilities i.e. sometimes contacts show
up in a double pane with outlook, sometimes in a single pane with
something else. The ring tone thingy (how's that for tech talk)
sometimes lets me modify mp3s, sometimes I can't even see them.

I previously had a Nokia. Perhaps Moto should try to outsource their
software to Nokia.

And yes, I have left messages for Moto. The 24 hours for response
apparently starts in 2008. I have received no response at all from any
of my, probably 20, messages.

But I love my V551. It's just a shame there's no support anywhere but
here.

Dang and Double Dang.

Whew! I feel better now.

I just checked and MPT has done the same thing for me too. Not Happy!!

Have to agree 110% with your summation of MPT. It is one of the poores
excuses for a piece of software I have seen in a long time

MPT is slightly less than perfect software :-)

It does not seem to clear the street addresses for me. I use the same
version with RAZR.

As for the need to rediscover the phone, make sure the phone is on,
connected, and flipped open before starting the software - and exit the
software before disconnecting the phone.

MPT starting performance (not the Outlook issue) can be vastly improved
by removing any modems in Device Manager/View/Show Hidden Devices that
are not necessary for the phone. Excluding typical hardware modems not
connected with MPT, remove all but the one that successfully connects to
the phone.

I asked moto customer service. They replied fast but... they apparently
did not understand what I am asking for. Their aswer was that the
address is not synchronized with the phone so I should not complain. I
will ask again...
It looks like it happens only for contacts which are changed in the
phone and then synchronized with outlook. When global synchronization
is selected MPT zaps street addresses from all records which have this
field. I learned this the hard way
Another problem is that the names including nonstandard characters in
freign names (like ó or ü), are frequently being truncated while
saving in the phone (though they look fine in the phone pane of MPT). I
reported this problem to motorola too and they did not understand it
either. That sucks.

OK, guys...
Small update. I looked up the BVRP forum and found that there are
people having exactly the same problem. It looks that they (BVRP the
author of MPT) have no clue why. They seem to work on that. I will keep
you posted. If you are interested this is the link to the mentioned
topic on BVRP forum:

It looks that Motorola support is pretty useless...

They say they found the bug and will fix this in the 3.25 update. The
thing is nobody knows when it happens.
