Using mPT to Encode mp4 for a V550

Aim: get .mpeg clip from digital camera to play on a V550 using full (176) screen width

So far:
1) Change .mpg to .avi in Virtual Dub (Nuisance!)
2) Save .avi to PC as .mp4 in mPT

Video plays but without sound. (mPT uses .mp4a audio compression - not compatible with
V550?)

To get sound I have to use mPT to save as a .3gp but that means only a 128 width clip not
the 176 one the mp4 can give me.

Alternatively:
1) Change .mpg to .avi (as only part of the .mpeg clip plays otherwise)
2) use Mpegable encoder to get low quality .arm audio on gp3 with .mp4 video encoding at
176 width

That's OK though the sound is not wonderful

Anyone with better ideas? (QT 6.4 Pro is too expensive!)
