ringtones for V710

If you place the ringtones onto a transflash card, go into the phone
play the media from the transflashcard, then move it to the phone it
can then be selected as a ringtone.

This can only be done if you happen to have a earlier version of the
firmware for the phone. If you have 01.40.xx then you probably can't
move media from the transflash to your phone. Any other versions then
you probably can.

Verizon (if that's your carrier) has decided it is their right to turn
off features that were built into the device by Motorola, in order to
force you to utilize their Get It Now Network. They consider it a
fiscal leak for you to be able to move any media to and from your cell
phone via any other means than their GIN network. (I have been told
this by Verizon reps personally)

There are a lot of limitations on the phone.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be similar to purchasing a
dell computer and having them turn off your usb ports. Then offering
an additional service fee if you wanted to print a document, to turn
on your usb ports using software they provide, print, then turn them
back off.

Technically this could be done with hardware locks or such.
