I need to create a soft or hard pause to retrieve my voicemail without
having to enter my password each time...But when I try to enter a letter
into a number it will not work...Any help would be appreciated...GG

Lost your manual, eh? Select your manual and look at page 56 here:

The tip (and pg 56 of the manual) only help if you are simply creating
an entry for vmail in your address book (for example, in mem location
001, from which you can then hotkey to your vmail). If, on the other
hand, you want to put a hard or soft pause into the vmail number that
the phone will call when you hit "call" on the softkey prompt when the
vmail notification comes up (supposedly the number you can program from
[Messages]->[Message Settings]->[Voicemail No.]) then although you can
still enter a pause or a wait from the menu a la pg 56 followed by your
password, it is ineffective, at least on Verizon -- you still have to
fat finger the password. Not sure what is happening there or how to
fix. So, if you get voicemail and are notified it is there, you have to
escape out, then dial voicemail from whatever speed dial location you
may have programmed.

Anyone who knows how to fix will earn my eternal gratitude...

Program memory location 1 with the your own number, pause, and 1 and
you're in business on TMo. Can't comment for VZW.
