V265/260 vs V60i

I am currently using a V60i on VZW. It's battery is two years old, and
cannot hold a charge for a whole day.

My contract expired and I am trying to decide whether to plonk $40 for a
new battery, or $50 for a new phone (with contract renewal). The $50
could get me a V265 or V260.

Are there any compelling reasons to upgrade to a V265/260?

The V60i was my first cellphone, and I chose it because it was
recommended as reliable with good reception quality. It works well for
me, although it has the usual problems with the charger connector. I
often have to insert it several times before it hooks up.

The V265/260 does not look as durable as the V60i. Do the newer models
have any advantages in reception, voice quality, or basic UI
functionality? I use a cellphone only for calling, and I am not
interested in cameras, games, or toy features.

I have used the V60i and now use the V265. It is very study. Reception is
incredible, audio is great. Display is difficult to see in direct sunlight
unless you select a light colored wallpaper. Battery life is not very good.
Speakerphone is very good. Over all, an excellent phone.

Ever checked Ebay on those? Thousands of new batteries sell for
2...6 Dollar plus shipping another 6 ...

Watch out for quality features like machine-made soldering points
and charging electronics. Vendors sometimes state them if they are
there.

I have had some bad experiences buying LiIon batteries from online
vendors. These were batteries for laptops and cameras, and although
they were advertised as new OEM products, they were junk. Example: A
$100 battery for a Mac PowerBook that could not maintain more than 20
minutes of runtime. My guess is that some vendors are selling batteries
that are recycled, returned, or beyond the mfr-recommended shelf life.

There may be honest vendors of bargain batteries out there, but I don't
know which ones to trust.
