Problem with v400's and mobile PhoneTools

Posted: 01-01-2005, 03:03 AM
I have several new v400's. They initially connected fine with mpt 3.19. But
now none of them are recognized by the software. The cable is a generic
usb. The software has been re-installed several times, with no change. Is
it possible the cable and/or software is damaging the phone interface?
Functionally, they all appear ok. They just wont connect to the pc. Anyone
have any thoughts?

Go into Device Manager and delete the phones under COM ports and USB.
Reboot and run MPT THEN plug in the phone.

Thx for the suggestion, but the only items listed under COM Ports are the 2
Serial and 1 LPT. Under USB there are two USB Root Hub's and 2 VIA Rev 5
USB Universal Host Controllers. No phones listed.

Phones will not be listed in Device Manager under com port and USB.
The only thing you'll see in Serial Ports in Device Manager will be
the com ports themselves.

This would happen to me. I found that I had to unplug all USB devices
except for the phone data cable, else it was hit and miss.

I personally don't think that MPT is written very well re recognizing
the phone via a USB connection.

Anon--
Thanks for your response. I tried removing the other USB device, no success.
Tried removing the software, and then re-installing again. No success. I
really fear that I have somehow damaged the phones, though I can't imagine
how. Same scenario with both phones.... They were detected the first couple
times and were accessible, then, out of the blue the software wouldn't
detect them. Not sure what to do next.

under topics:
"Mobile PhoneTools just says - Initializing"
or: "Mobile PhonTools cannot communicate with the phone."

Thx!!!
Found a solution.... Power the phone off, and back on. It is then detected
by the MPT software!!!
