Have a V60s and also a 3COM 3CXM556 56K Modem PC card. I'm in need of a
cable to connect them together for AMPS usage in the boonies.
Haven't found one yet. Can anyone suggest a source?
TIA

I assume you mean *not available*?
As far as my past history, I had used this PC modem with my Moto STARTAC
7868W tri-mode successfully in lots of analog areas for data email with my
laptop (I travel around a lot in an RV). Since I now have a new tri-mode,
the v60s, I didn't see why it wouldn't still work if I could find the right
cable...???
(US Robotics (3COM)) doesn't show the cable I need on their site)

Why don't you just get a serial cable and forget using your modem??? Mine
works great with a V60I.

He asked about using this for AMPS (i.e., analog) only service areas.
Digital service is required in order to use the phone as a modem.

Hi tgw,
You are correct. AMPS DATA is the game I'm trying to play. I have a
working 3COM PCMCIA cellular modem card and a new Moto V60s tri-mode cell
phone, but cannot for the life of me find a connecting cable. USR (3COM
successor) has nothing. I guess if I had pinouts for both the PCMCIA card
and the v60s, I could make my own cable, maybe.
I know that OSITECH makes a PCMCIA card and has a cable for the v60s, but I
hate to throw away a perfectly good 3COM card and spend another $119.
Any ideas?

Try contacting SupplyNet (thesupplynet.com, 800.826.0279). They specialize
in cellular, PDA, PC card, and GPS cables. I do not see the one you need
listed, but they may be able to kook you up...

Thanks, I looked there the other day and rechecked today as you did. Came
up empty, so I emailed them with my exact needs and now await their answer.

The Geomadic site says very clearly their WIC-1505 cable will allow V60s
users to "easily connect their Laptop to the wireless web to send email,
browse the Internet, send faxes, exchange instant messages and more!"
A few days ago (and before I saw this link to the Geomadic site), I asked
Motorola customer service why the Motorola Web site showed no data cable
accessory for the V60s. The CSR told me there is no provision for connecting
the V60s to a computer, and that is one of the few Motorola phones that
can't be connected with a computer. As I understand it, that means you can't
use your computer to manage the V60s address book, can't download rings and
other goodies from your computer, nor can you use the V60s as a "modem" to
connect to your computer to the Internet.
Has anyone used a Motorola V60s to connect to the Internet?
TIA,
Rich
