Moto V600 - How do I delete the ringtones that I do not want on the phone?

Posted: 05-01-2004, 01:04 PM
I've tried marking the files that I did not want and using the "delete all
marked files"... then it asks me if I want to delete them... I click yes...
it then says 0 files deleted.

I need the space for mp3.

Thanks in advance.

The factory supplied ringtones cannot be deleted.

As Bruce says, the factory set images and ringtones are locked and cannot be
deleted.

What kind of MP3's are you storing?

Since my original MP3 files are often much higher quality than the phone is
capable of playing I covert my MP3's to 32kbps mono format using a handy app
called "CDEx".
Also, ringtones are only 30 seconds long at most so you can trim 'em too.
This makes one of my MP3 ringtones around 75k - I have around 20 on my phone
with plenty of room for Java apps and pics too!

HTH.

Thanks Bruce.

I've installed CDEx. However it seems like the program can only trim
files from a CD. Do you know if this can be done for files already in
my hard drive?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I am aware, CDEx does not trim, I use it to downsample.

F11 and F12 - convert to and from MP3.
Locate your MP3...
Covert to WAV.
Set the MP3 encoder to LAME, 32kbps, Mono
Convert *back* to MP3 (perhaps as a new filename?!)

Job's a good 'un.

For trimming mp3's, ask www.google.com

you need to use wordpad and create an empty file with the same name and ext
as the file you want to delete for example Bells.mid make sure the spelling
and capital letters are correct. Then you send this file to your phone as
you would any other tone and hey presto the origional file has gone. If your
new file remains on the phone, simply delete it as it does not have a
padlock on it.
