V500/525 ringtone question

I have just upgraded to a V500.

Every other phone I have ever had (Nokia, Siemens and Sagem) had seperate
tones for incoming calls and text messages. Which was what I wanted.

I set up my new V500 to have the default 'Door Bell' tone for incoming texts
and then have used the phonebook entries to allocate ringtones to each of my
favourite people.

The problem is each time I get an incoming text from one of them I get the
full ringtone I have set in the phonebook instead of the 'Door Bell' tone.

Is this a Motorola or a V500/525 thing or is there something I am missing ??
