Re: Can't get V60i to dial from Laptop

I have the VZW Mobile Office kit (USB) with XP Home Edition and a v60i.
To get it to work, I have to do the following.

Plug the phone into the USB port before turning on the computer.
Turn the computer on.
Go into the Device Manager and run the diagnostics - I think it's under
the advanced tab in the Motorola USB Modem properties.
Start the Mobile Office dialer.

That sequence usually works. If it doesn't, I re-install the drivers
and do it again.

Not too much of a pain in the a$$!?!

I have not heard of these problems, but I will make two recommendations:
1) Delete, then re-load the software. or
2) Delete the software and just use the v60i as a modem.
Here's how I did it, since it isn't a slam dunk with XP.
-I bought just the USB cable from Nextel ($20)
-If you're using win 95 or 98, just configure the phone as a generic modem.
-W/XP you can't do that, you need a driver, which I downloaded at:
http://beta.driverguide.com/beta/index.php
-Then I just use Dial Up Networking and create a Connection using "motorola
USB modem".
-I can hot swap the phone USB cable but need to re-start DUN each time.
