aftermarket batteries vs oem

Posted: 09-05-2003, 07:10 PM
The OEM battery in my i90c died after a year. As I shop for a new
battery I keep seeing 2400 mAh aftermarket batteries, but the OEM
batteries only go as high as 1400 mAh. Which is best?

Thanks

I have an aftermarket battery. I got it on ebay. It was brand new and
I paid $3.99. It lasts for 3 days with my normal use. The oem battery
lasts about 1.5 days.

so far every aftermarket battery I have bought died in a few months at most. or
never lived up to the claims for standby time.

ok so if I get a aftermarket for say 10 bucks delivered and it lasts 3 times
longer then a OEM but it doesn't carry a warranty or have a "freshness" date
but lives half as long as a OEM what's the problem? Say the battery lasts 6
months, you STILL make out over getting the OEM !

While searching for a new battery for my i88s I spoke to the Nextel rep
and was surprised to learn that if you have warranty work done on your
NEXTEL phone that you have to go to Motorola!!? I bought the phone from
Nextel. It is THEIR responsibility to fix or replace the phone and then
THEY deal with Motorola to get reembursed. What is this nonsense about I
have to go to Motorola? Is that the understanding of the rest of you
Nextel owners?

thanks

Mike

I can't speak for where you are, but here in the Ft. Lauderdale - West
Palm Beach area there are 3 NEXTEL repair centers within 30 miles of
each other.

They are pretty much in the 2 way radio repair business and repair
NEXTEL phones also and no way Motorola affiliated, heck one of them is a
Johnson 2 way dealer and he can't sell Motorola 2-way equipment.

I have original OEM Motorola batteries for $12 shipped if anyone is
interested. These are BRAND NEW in the plastic clamshell package and 100%
Motorola brand batteries, no cheap aftermarket brands. At $12 shipped, I
don't think you will find them cheaper anywhere. Here is a link to my ebay
auction, but I'll sell them to the list, for $12 shipped, that saves me the
ebay fee's.

If anyone is interested, just send me an email.
