V60g antennas bad?

carrier.
Starting yesterday my reception became very bad. In most places (including
where I live) I can't connect at all to the service.
At about the same time I noticed that the antenna had broken off the phone.
It was a surprise to suddenly notice that, as I don't know how it broke off,
don't know exactly when it happened, etc.
I didn't make a connection at first between the broken antenna and bad
reception, as I wouldn't have thought that little stub antenna could make so
much difference anyhow.
Yesterday I brought the phone to a T-Mobile store, to ask about the bad
reception. I wondered if the system was down in my area, etc. When the rep
saw the phone, he said the broken antenna was the problem, that the antenna
makes a lot of difference in being able to connect. He didn't have any
replacement antennas there though.
I went to BestBuy and asked if they had antennas for the phone. The salesman
said they usually carried them, but were out of stock. He also said,
however, that the v60g had been discontinued due to antenna problems,
replaced with the v60i. He suggested to ask Motorola to fix it in warranty
due to the defective antenna, or perhaps they might even replace it for me
with the v60i.
Has anyone had experience with this? Have others had antenna problems with
the v60g? Did Motorola fix it without charge or replace it?
