Recently got Nokia N80. Was all so excited about this phone. But unfortunately, its been a very big disappointment. Well, if you pay Rs.28,000 for a phone(which is what I paid), you would expect something really good in it. But Nokia wont have it that way. But I guess its my fault. Shouldnt have taken such a hasty decision.
I got this phone mostly because it had a 3 mega pixel camera, and because I had lost my old phone (k750i), and was desperate to get a new one. After I bought the new phone, I got very busy with life, and couldnt use the phone, except for making/recieving calls.
But after about 3 weeks or so, I started noticing the probs. My newly bought phone was getting heated upon charging or using for about 20 minutes. But as I was too busy with life, i couldnt go to Nokia Care to complain about it, so I just held on to it. Later, I downloaded new and exciting themes for N80, tried them on the phone. They looked all nice and cuddly... until I got an incoming call. The whole display gets corrupted whenever I get a call, or a message. None of the themes available on the net work. This got me on the edge. It was only now that I tested my phone's camera, and yes, another BIG disappointment. Pics are quite good in bright daylight. But when I used the camera inside my house, all I got was CRAP pics. Night mode is BAD, flash is nearly of NO use, unless you're taking a VERY close-up pic. I thought the camera was not even close to being a 3 mega pixel. Like I said, I was happily using a SE K750i before, which I liked for its sound quality, camera, and flash(which worked very well in no-light conditions).
So all this forced me to take a day off and goto Nokia. Went there, explained my probs to them. All I got in answer was that my phone needs re-loading of software and they would do it. Three days later, i got the phone back, looking all fresh and clean. Life got me busy again, so I really couldnt pay any attention to the phone. about 10 days later, I downloaded some software etc., and started exploring the phone and using net on it. Now that I was paying attention again, I noticed the phone was still getting heated. Tried the themes, VOILA, same display corruption problem. More phone usage and I found out the battery life had significantly decreased after the servicing. Plus, the max sound (volume) had reduced to about half of what it originally was. And the phone was functioning ALOT slower than it used to, when i bought it. I thought the slow functioning was because of the 1GB MMC, but my friends ruled it out. So yesterday, I had to goto Nokia again and give the phone for another service. And they promised me that if I get any more probs after the servicing, they will give me a replacement. No phone ever gave me these many problems. Phew.
I will get the phone back tomorrow. Hoping the damned phone wont give me any more problems. Has any1 else had such problems with N80 or any N-series for that matter ?
