What is vNes?

vNes is a NES emulator for mobiles. It lets you play Nintendo 8-bits games on your mobile. You can put games from thousands of roms in your pocket, play them anytime and anywhere, with the memories and joys of old time.
vNes has different versions: vNes J2ME, vNes Symbian, vNes Smartphone.

- Low memory usage. It only needs enough memory for rom and display data. If the rom has 40K and display area is 128x128, it needs about 100K memory.
- Very small application jar size. You only need save memory for roms.
- Adjustable game speed.
- Each rom with 10 save/load slots.

i m glad it works for the J2ME version also.
i was working on a /patch for vnes j2me. now that we have a here , i can take a break.

only problem with the j2me version is that we cannot browse the roms from outside the application like in symbian version. so we have to include the roms in the .JAR file itself. when we want to add a new rom to vnes we have to manually add the roms to the .JAR

for this purpose, i am posting a tool with which we can add roms to the .JAR
it consists of a .bat file and resources (java class files, png etc.)

the process is explained below

Because J2ME cannot access resource outside JAR, we must build ROM files into JAR. Use this tool as you wish.

1. List your ROM files in package.txt. Don't add ".nes"
2. Copy your ROM files to directory "roms". Make sure they all ends with .nes
3. Run makejar.bat, you will get vnes.jar
4. Send vnes.jar to mobile

There are two ways (for the java version only)


(1) the easy way - you can simply use the file supplied (additional info is given inside the archive)

(2) the 2nd way is doing it manually, (winrar must be installed)
- open winrar, browse for the *.jar" file -
- you should see files with the *.class *.png's
- open (double click) the txt file on the Jar with the file name "2.txt"
- list the name of the rom that you wish to place on the archive. (disregarding the *.nes extension)
- then drag the file(rom itself) on the Winrar window

and the jar archive would look(contain) stuff like these
