In Dec 02, started beta for froogle which is now very popular (to help consumers locate and buy products on the Web)
In April 04 Google suddenly announced to start offering 1 GB free via his new service GMAIL – Result Yahoo!, MSN and all others have to offer the same.
Big algorithm change by Google
in Dec 04 followed by Microsoft’s announcement to be in to search industry (http://search.msn.com – still in beta version) – Yahoo accelerated implementation of Yahoo directory from Inktomi database (purchased last January) and now started to show it in web search too with directory listing)
Google is scared with Microsoft’s announcement as Google’s current CEO has a experience of Microsoft’s monopoly while he was CEO of Netscape. But this experience is actually helping Google.(lets see)
In October 04 Google launched Google Desktop Search – Result: Yahoo, MSN, AskJeeves announced releases of their desktop search applications.
To keep up the trends they have started offering video search (http://video.google.com ) as it was announced and introduced first by Yahoo!
in July 04 the acquired Picasa digital photo management company, to enable users to manage and share digital photographs.
In October 2004, Google acquired Keyhole Corp and the acquisition gave Google users a new search tool, enabling them to view 3D images of any place on earth.
ICANN’s current domain registrars list shows Google http://www.icann.org/registrars/acc...ified-list.html - This indicates Google’s entry to domain registration market. Also indicates google's entry in Webhosting industry.
Recently they have hired BEN – Main contributor and developer of open source Fire Fox browser. Incidentally gbrowser.com shows registrant contact as Google
And there are so many unique services and features by Google you never know where they develop their market i.e. blogger.com, orkut.com
