internal vs external antenna

Specifically I'm looking for phones to use with tmobile prepay gsm service
and is trying to choose between the nokia 6101, motorola razr, and samsung
x495. Reception and voice quality are top priority. All gadgets are
secondary. I slightly prefer flip phone, especially since the only non-flip
choice from tmobile is a larger than average nokia 6010.
I guess I can buy the phone from other places (e.g. ebay) and have them
unlocked if need be. It's just more convenient to buy from the carrier since
I can return it if it sucks.
