Searching for the Nokia 9500 --- what's up???

Posted: 11-16-2005, 05:24 PM
Greetings:

I have just returned from a trip to Hong Kong. Hong Kong being famous
as it is for being the place to pick up electronic gadgets at discount
prices, one of my goals for the trip was to pick up a Nokia 9500
cellphone.

As it turned out, I must have gone to 30 shops to hear the same story:
"Out of stock".

I eventually gave up on the discount stores and went to stores in the
"expensive" district.....same story.

I'd seen one on display at the airport but walked right by it figuring
that things "on sale" in those duty free shops are about 30% *more*
expensive. But on my way back, I went to the store with the intent of
swallowing my pride and couphing up the extra bucks. No luck; same
story! Turns out the display was just a dummy shell. The real phone
was....yep....out of stock.

But here's the thing: I never saw anyone using one actually using a
9500 during my entire stay there.

So what's going on?? Has the model been recalled or discontinued by
Nokia? Is there something else new just on the horizon so they aren't
shipping the 9500 any more?

Anyone out there have any idea?

I've only seen this phone offered online. Try myworldphone.com or
mobilebee.com. I haven't checked thier shipping policies.

Take caution when purchasing a phone from MyWorldPhone.com

I recently purchased a Motorola a780 from MyWorldPhone.com. Soon after
receiving the product, I realized it was missing a key feature I wanted
(EDGE support) even though it was described with this feature in the
product description. I called them nearly a dozen times to rectify this
problem (I even recommended they change the description on their
website). The result: A partial refund. Even though it was their fault
they misrepresented the product, I lost nearly $100 from this
transaction.

I've asked to speak directly with the owner or supervising manager
only to be hung up on twice. I've tried to get contact information
for a manager or owner, and they would not give it to me. I've been
blatantly lied to (twice they said I would get the balance of the
refund by a certain date). This has been going on since October 21st
with no resolve in sight.

I've pretty much given up on getting the rest of my money. This was
the worst online transaction I have ever experienced.

If you are considering purchasing a phone from MyWorldPhone.com, my
advice would be to look elsewhere.
