[HELP] Coverage in Sharon, CT?

A friend of mine told me this story of his trip last week.

He was travelling the back roads of Sharon, CT recently to attend a talk.
The opening speaker told the audience not to worry about being bothered by
cellular phones ringing. Apparently, that area has no coverage.

We've spoken about him possibly getting a cellular phone, and I encouraged
him to research where he normally goes to see what provider(s) offer the
best coverage, then work backwards for the best plan.

Since Sharon, CT apparently has no signal, does anyone know if _any_
provider offers the area with any kind of service, or plans to?

I've never been there.
